{Printed/Old} "All of your opponents must reveal their hands"

Game Rules

Players: 2 to 6  -  Time: 15 to 20 Mins  -  Age: 8+  (Potentially scary images for children)

To Begin… Shuffle the deck, then deal out eight cards to each player. Place the remaining deck face-down in the center of the play area. Now players begin taking turns, starting with the youngest player.

Taking Turns… To begin a turn, the player draws a card from the deck. Next, they choose one card at random to steal from any one opponent.

Next, each player looks at the cards they hold and plays any pairs they may have. Two cards with the same name make a Matched Pair, while two cards which link to one another make a Linked Pair.

During a player’s turn, they may choose to play one Horror card or "the Cultist" from their hand. If a Horror card is played, the effect takes place immediately before play continues.

Linked Pairs are worth one point, Matched Pairs are worth two points, and if you have all four cards of a Linked/Matched card set it is worth four points total, no matter how they were played. Any played Horror cards are worth one point. If the Cultist card is played, it subtracts one point from that player's total.

Play continues with the next player to the left taking their turn.

Winning… When a turn ends with any player having thirteen points or more in play, the game ends. If that player does not hold "The Great Old One" card, they win!

If they do hold "The Great Old One" and did not play "The Cultist", then they lose and the player with the next highest total of points wins!

However, if any player holds "The Great Old One" and played "The Cultist", they are the winner instead!

Alternate Play (for up to 8 players)

Players: 2 to 8  -  Time: 20 to 30 Mins  -  Age: 8+  (Potentially scary images for children)

To Begin… Shuffle the deck, then deal all the cards out as evenly as possible between all players. Some players may end up with more cards than others.

Next, each player looks at the cards they hold and plays any pairs they may have. Two cards with the same name make a Matched Pair, while two cards which link to one another make a Linked Pair.

Taking Turns… Now players begin taking turns, starting with the youngest player. On a player’s turn, that player must take one card at random from any other player. If the card they take can make a Pair with any card they hold, they may play the Pair.

At the end of a player’s turn, they may choose to play one Horror card or "the Cultist" from their hand. If a Horror card is played, the effect takes place immediately before play continues.

Play continues with the player to the left taking their turn.

Winning… When a turn ends with any player holding no cards, the game ends.. In scoring, each Matched Pair is worth two (2) points, each Linked Pair is worth one (1) point. Horror cards are worth one (1) point during scoring, and the Cultist subtracts one (-1) point.

The player who ends the game holding "The Great Old One" loses, and any other player with the most points wins! However, if the player who ends the game holding "The Great Old One" played "the Cultist", they are the winner instead!
